The correct answer is: B) To reinforce stereotypes.

Stereotypes are an obstruction to communication, remember that in commmunication information is exchanged between two or more people, that means that both sides need to create and receive messages and take something out of them, make an interpretation. An stereotype refers to a belief or idea of what a particular type of person is like, they are most of times negative. They are mostly based on race, nationality or sexual orientation. An example would be: The image of a mexican with a moustache, a hat, lazy amd drunk. Although this stereotype was in the beggining created based on evidence (some mexicans, use hats, some have moustaches), they don't represent the majority as they oversimplify this groups.

By following the stereotypes created you are refusing to learn from others as you have a firm belief of what they are or what they do. Communication is weakened and reality distorted.
