What imperial nation imposes policies and laws on its colony?

From 1500 to 1942, European countries have dominated all over the world. Some countries came out in Asia, but the greatest number of colonized countries goes to the British Empire.
 
To gain economic and political power in the world, the 13 British colonies were used to make it possible. In addition to this, there are other more additional colonies in the East. Policies in their system like using slaves to gain an increase in production of goods were done. The political hold is given to those who have lands and slaves. They are protected and supported by Britain's Monarchy rules to justify their actions.
