A comma cannot be used to connect two independent clauses without the use of a coordinating conjunction. These are words like and, but, or, nor, for, so, or yet. These coordinating conjunctions connect the thought to the other clause instead of having two separate clauses. See below for an example.

Our two independent clauses are "I didn't know if I could be a doctor." and "I decided to become a nurse." Our coordinating conjuntion is so. Without the coordinating conjunction, we could not combine the sentences.

overall, both schools had something that the students or most of the students did not like or appreciate. what you can learn from these stories is that life will never be exactly how you may want it to be. complaining about your lifestyle will only make matters worse or at least feel worse in the long run. that's happens to be the information you can interpret from these two stories.
