“hurry, get into that bedroom,” my uncle jim shouted. “don’t come out until we say it’s safe! ” my dad added as my cousins and i fled down the hall and into the first bedroom we saw in the unfamiliar lakehouse. what a way to start our first family vacation in years. it seemed like hours as we waited. finally my dad came and opened the door. every day of our vacation, my dad and uncle jim repeated the tale of their fearless capture and release of that bat.
