This story takes place in 1924. Teresa lives with her
family and other tribal members on the Now Mexico
portion of the Navajo reservation
Why does Teresa feel it may be time to stop
following her sister?
Teresa knows that her mother wants her to
choose her own path for herself.
Teresa understands that she would rather be
outside in nature than inside weaving.
Enough
After feeding the chickens, Teresa
returned to her family's dome-shaped
hogan, or house, which sat in a clearing
with others, ringed by sticky-sap piñion
trees and gnarled junipers. She hoped to
watch her mother weave and to plead
with her again to learn how. But inside,
she found only the enormous loom,
waiting patiently for her mother with a
Teresa realizes that her sister will always be
the best weaver in the family.
Teresa learns that her brother and father
need help with irrigating the fields.
