Wendy and her brother lan didn't want to move, and they definitely didn't want to change schools. They begged their parents not to make
them leave their old town and friends. Unfortunately, they were
outvoted. There were good schools in Masonville, their parents said,
and a good job for their mom.
When they arrived in their new town, their parents tried to get them to
join a sports team or go to the park, but Wendy and lan stayed inside
and sulked. lan played a lot of video games. Wendy, who was not a fan
of video games, read a lot of books on the patio. For weeks, they did
not meet any other children. They thought they would go crazy from
boredom. Eventually, school started, and they met other kids they liked,
some of whom lived just around the comer. They could have met them
earlier, they realized, if they'd just gone outside to play sooner.
Which statement best describes how a character's response to conflict
develops the plot?
O A. Wendy reads a lot of books because she doesn't like video games.
B. Wendy and lan refuse to go outside because they are unhappy
with their parents
C. Wendy and lan make new friends because they realize that their
anger at their parents is silly.
O D. lan plays video games because he does not like the other children
who live on the street.
