A. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel to space? An astronaut’s job seems like a very grand adventure. However, being an astronaut is not easy. Astronauts have a hard job because they must endure a difficult application process, go through extensive training, and conduct comprehensive studies and experiments.

B. After an applicant has been accepted into the Astronaut Candidate Program, he or she will undergo one to two years of training. Candidates attend classes on various subjects including those in shuttle systems, astronomy, oceanography, and many science and technology courses. Furthermore, the candidates need to learn some basic survival skills, especially survival swimming. Finally, they experience what it feels like to be weightless and learn how to maneuver in these conditions.
