In preparation for the assignment Speculating about Causes, read the articles listed below that can be found in your text and respond to the Discussion Board regarding Cell Phone use as an example of Social Media. Read:

“#socialnetworking: Why It’s Really So Popular” 391

“Have Smart Phones Destroyed a Generation?” 332

Each of the readings listed in the Syllabus provides examples that support a claim. Reference the authors’ main ideas and sub points, which will help you with this Discussion Board. Note the following in the articles:

A thesis statement and a forecast of the main cause or causes
Authors’ main ideas and sub points—pro and con
Your point of view
Subtopics: The subtopics you will be focusing on are the following:

Availability
Connection
Fame
Each of the above subtopics will reference one example from each of the two articles you were asked to read. Use quotation to support the examples you choose from the articles. In addition, four database articles that reflect the pros and cons on the topic of social media are required. In the Discussion Board for each of the two articles in your text and for each of the four database articles, write a short paragraph on the following: give the MLA formatted Works Cited entry, give the author's main point and sub points in the articles that reference the use of cell phones in social media. The articles will give the support and negative use of cell phones. Your entries in the Discussion Board should give you ample information to get you started on the paragraph content you will use in your essay. Your point of view will also be present in the Discussion Board. For example, what is your point of view about the use of cell phones as an example of social media.

1. Again, in the Discussion Board post a short paragraph detailing the following for each of the articles in the Syllabus and for each of the four database articles on the topic of cell phones as an example of social media:

Cite the Works Cited sample for each article
Authors’ main ideas and sub points—pro and con
Your point of view
Post your examples in the Discussion tab.

2. In addition, respond to two of your peers' posts asking questions and commenting on their authors' points of view referencing cell phones as an example of social media. Do the examples your peers choose help add to the information on cell phones as an example of social media? Explain why your peers' articles will offer useful information that can be used in body paragraphs in an essay on cell phones used as social media.

What effect is created by the plaque posted on the gate at the entrance to the family's home in nadine gordimer's "once upon a time"? the words written on the plaque offer readers a foreshadowing of the story's outcome without revealing the actual conclusion, the author's use of flashback allows readers to understand what is at the heart of the issues of encroachment in the suburban neighborhood the repetition of the words written on the plaque presents an oxymoron because readers already sense that the plaque has been ineffective in warding off intruders. the author introduces a paradox in which readers are presented with a warning notice when no actual infraction has taken place.
