The Diversity of Canada
Modem Canada is a diverse country. British and French people made up 90 percent of the country's
population not long ago. Today, those same people makes up only 50 percent of the population.
Who else lives in Canada?
The country we know today, a nation made of 13 provinces and territories, came into being within
the last 150 years. The first people to live there were native peoples such as the Inuit. They came to
the land about 10,000 years ago. The original name of the country Kanata comes from these earliest
sentiers. In 1000 A. D. the first Europeans to explore the Land, the Vikings, arrived. They did not
remain in large numbers. The typical Viking warship had an average of 90 crew members. In the
1500s and 1500s modern Canada began to take shape it was during this time that French and British
colonists first arrived
The French ruled the Canadian colonies until 1763. In that year, France lost a war with Britain and
med over the territory. The British ruled the land for a lot of years. Britain wanted to in the mid-
