Which of these sentences most effectively summarizes the main ideas in 2 points this paragraph?
Read the following passage from "Five Hours to Simla."
After the cacophony of screeching brakes and grinding gears, there followed the
comparatively static hum of engines, and drivers waited in exasperation for the next lurch
forwards. For the moment there was a lull, curious on that highway. Then the waiting very
quickly began to fray at the edges. The sun was beating on the metal of the vehicles, and
the road lay flattened across the parched plain, with no trees to screen it from the sun. First
one car horn began to honk, then a bicycle rickshaw began to clang its bell, then a
truck blared its musical horn, and then the lesser ones began to go pom-pom, pom-pom
almost in harmony, and suddenly, out of the centre of all that noise, a long, piercing wail
emerged.
A variety of noises filled the air as the sun beat down on the waiting vehicles, showing
O that the long wait was beginning to take its toll on the patience of those who were
caught in the traffic
The screeching brakes and grinding gears of the cars made much noise before the
waiting game in the mid-day heat began.
The cars began to honk at each other, encouraging other vehicles to join in the melody
of traffic sounds, with a baby's cry interrupting the harmony
The cars' engines rumbled steadily with their occupants growing more impatient as
the heat of the sun intensified.

Read the quotation from "an occurrence at owl creek bridge." and now he became conscious of a new disturbance. striking through the thought of his dear ones was a sound which he could neither ignore nor understand, a sharp, distinct, metallic percussion like the stroke of a blacksmith’s hammer upon the anvil; it had the same ringing quality. he wondered what it was, and whether immeasurably distant or near by—it seemed both. its recurrence was regular, but as slow as the tolling of a death knell. he awaited each stroke with impatience and—he knew not why—apprehension. the intervals of silence grew progressively longer, the delays became maddening. with their greater infrequency the sounds increased in strength and sharpness. they hurt his ear like the thrust of a knife; he feared he would shriek. what he heard was the ticking of his watch. which best describes the effect of the narration in the excerpt? it suggests that the man being executed feels tranquil and at peace. it suggests that the narrator is sympathetic to the man being executed. it suggests that the plot will become less tense as the story continues. it suggests that the story will become more intense and mysterious.
