Should the United States government pay reparation to African American?

Short answer; It would be too hard to do it, you can change it up to better help the communities because if you think about it that is a form of reparations.

Depends on how you look at it since it is a lot harder to do than giving money away. One of the biggest dilemmas is who to give it to, as you'd have to find the evidence to prove that the person's great great great great (it goes on and on) grandmothers/fathers were indeed slaves. I don't know too much about if plantation owners kept track of the enslaved people since they described slaves as property which I would believe would give them no intent of keeping track of them (I think that the slaves passed on their families tradition generation by generation tho). Also, how much would be paid is another aspect of it adding on to what I said earlier it would be very hard to find the necessary evidence to provide each and every family with compensation especially since this is on the scale of millions. To conclude it I would say if it were a check then probably not. I do think that one form of reparations would be to invest in those particular communities because it does a lot more than a check.
