Oxford's softball team suffered its first loss of the season on May 3, losing 2-1 to Silvergrove's
tenth-ranked team. It was Oxford's first loss in
sixteen games.
Oxford did put in a strong showing. Oxford's pitcher was in top form, striking out fifteen,
walking two, and yielding only two hits. However, Oxford struggled to get hits off of
Silvergrove's junior pitcher, who yielded only five hits. Silvergrove scored the game-winner in
the bottom of the eighth inning. With two down, a batter walked, advanced on a base hit, and
scored when an outfielder dropped the ball.
