What role does social media play in isolationg teenagers?

Social media plays a role in isolating teenagers by basically reducing actual social interaction such as hanging out with friends. This causes many problems such as being more introverted (not that there's a problem with that) and having less social skills in society. It will possibly make it harder for them to interact with people while being out in the world and having to do things on their own.
