"You're late," Mrs. Lenard states coldly. I feel the eyes of my nosy peers glare as I walk to my desk. The dim light above my small workspace flickers. I sit down on my frigid seat and reach down for my heavy textbook. The floor is filthy, littered with various wrappers and old pencils. I already want to leave and the lesson has yet to begin.
