While it has beneficial uses, it can be toxic to humans and animals, causing negative health effects. Lead and lead compounds can be found in a wide variety of products in and around our homes, including paint, ceramics, pipes and plumbing materials, solders, gasoline, batteries, ammunition, and cosmetics.
