Cenotes      A cenote is a natural sinkhole filled with freshwater. Cenotes are formed when bedrock collapses into fresh groundwater. More specifically, a cenote is created when the surrounding bedrock destabilizes, and it collapses to reveal a cave underneath. Different types of cenotes exist. Some are shallow and wide, others are partially open with part of the water's surface hidden, and some are deep, water-filled shafts. Cenotes are an exceptionally exciting place for divers due to the interior formations inside of them. Cenotes can be found throughout many of Mexico's tourist destinations, but they also exist in other parts of the world
