7. Read the excerpts from the story Penguin Parade: An Antarctic Adventure: Excerpt 1: I packed a small backpack with some warm clothes, a couple of books, my camera, and lots of extra batteries and memory cards. I want to be a photographer someday, just like my mom. For my last birthday, she gave me a professional-quality camera. I'd taken pictures of my friends and family, my dog, and various places around our neighborhood, and now I couldn't wait to take pictures of the penguins. This was my first big step in learning how to be a professional photographer.

Excerpt 2: The baby whale was less than half the size of its mother. It bobbed along, never leaving her side. I tried to get a good picture of it before the pod passed us by, and luckily it surfaced just as it was passing by. I got a great shot of the baby whale and couldn't wait to show my mom, but I didn't want to miss the rest of the whales. I put down my camera and watched them swim away until they were out of sight.

Read the excerpts from the story Swimming with Sharks: A Galapagos Adventure:

Excerpt 1: The family took many pictures of the tortoises. Nick took a selfie with the tortoises in the background, and Steven rolled his eyes as his brother struck a pose. They headed back to the hotel in time for dinner and went to bed early.

Excerpt 2: They reached the island by mid-morning. The day was bright, and the water was so clear that you could see the ocean floor in some places. Steven saw a group of manta rays swimming close to the boat as they approached the island, so he snapped some pictures with his phone. The diving instructor helped the family into their diving equipment and checked to make sure everything was working before they jumped into the water.

Time is not always change. time can also mean continuity, and it can mean keeping acknowledged truths in mind despite differences in circumstances. there is no better example of this in things fall apart than the retellings of the proverb about the bird named eneke, the language in both retellings is almost identical despite the length of time that has passed between their repetitions. in comparing the usages of the same proverb, achebe allows his readers to note the similarities and differences between the situations, and he them understand how this story can be applied to their own lives.
