Have you heard of Debi Nova? Nearly unknown in the United States for many years, she is a star in her native Costa Rica. Born into a musical family, Nova began playing the piano at age 4. Even as a teenager, she enjoyed great success. Her band played as part of the opening act for many international groups. Nova later studied singing at top music academies. She did not finish her studies, however. She was too busy writing songs for other musicians. Nova sang backup on recordings by Sergio Mendes and Ricky Martin. Her debut album, Luna Nueva, was released in 2010.
