They seem like good choices, but A is a bit risky. If one of the tree limbs can't support your weight and you fall down, you're a goner. The pursuer will hear you and go in your direction. B, you may not have enough time to dig a big hole and get everything ready. C, What if there is a hungry shark down there? And "The world is made up of two classes-the hunters and the huntees.",  his shipmate has expressed sympathy for the jaguar that they may soon pursue; however, Rainsford has no feelings for animals, explaining that one is either a predator, or a prey for the predator--the world is made of only these two types of creatures.  And, as the second poster has cogently commented, this remark is definitive of foreshadowing.
