Louis Ogawa is a meticulous person, she has everything calculated and she gives many details in the letter. He asks Clara Breed to buy her a cardigan sweater and she describes exactly what kind of sweater she likes, which color she likes and she also sends the money (along with the letter) that Miss Breed will need to buy the sweater. She even describes how much it would (approximately) cost, as well as including taxes and postages money. But when she asks for it, she makes sure Miss Breed understands that it is not an obligation for her to buy the sweater, so she is also kind and respectful: "When you happen to go shopping, I don't care when, will you kindly look around for a cardigan sweater for me please. I would like it in some shade of rose (...) Please remember I am in NO HURRY."

By reading the letter, you can also infer that Louis Ogawa is worried about her situation and her future, because she says she is losing her independency while being in camp: "Here in camp, I think our standard of living tends to become lower, we tend to become less independent, and this certainly does not help to make our future brighter. This may not be altogether true, but it's my opinion. I certainly would like to go out, but I don't have the slightest idea where I'd like to go."
