FIRST - read though SB Activity 3.3 in the Springboard book. "Literary Analysis" means to analyze literature; there is an example in the SB book. You will analyze a DIFFERENT choice made by a character in the novel.
Your claim should be a statement of the choice made and why that character made it.
Find evidence from the text to support your claim. Be sure to cite correctly.
Your commentary should explain how that evidence supports your claim. WHY did you choose that? Remember that commentary is 3-4 sentences of explanation.
THEN
Write a literary analysis paragraph about another choice that a character made in the novel.
Be sure to:
Write a topic sentence that states the main idea.
Use textual evidence, with quotation marks around direct quotes.
Provide commentary about the consequences of that choice for Paul.

Read the excerpt from chapter 6 of animal farm. by the autumn the animals were tired but happy. they had had a hard year, and after the sale of part of the hay and corn, the stores of food for the winter were none too plentiful, but the windmill compensated for everything. it was almost half built now. how does the pacing of this passage affect the reader’s interpretation of the text? a flashback to earlier events provides a pause in the pacing to slow events down. foreshadowing of events provides information as to what will happen to the windmill. the pace of the text quickens to convey the characters’ resolve to finish the windmill. the pace of the text quickens to move the story to its climax, the completion of the windmill.
