About the Author: Homer is an ancient Greek poet, thought to have been born sometime between the 12th and 8th centuries BC. While little is known about Homer’s life, many scholars believe him to be the author of two famous epic poems, the Iliad and the Odyssey. These epic poems, written to follow the Hero’s Journey archetype, were some of the earliest known works of literature. Homer’s epic poems greatly influenced Greek culture and inspired many further works of literature, following in the epic style. His poems continue to be relevant, discussed, and debated today.
