"The Pit and the Pendulum" Number the events in the order in which they occurred in the story. (1-12) The rats eat at his binds that allow him to get free of pendulum. He eats food and wakes up tied down and pendulum hanging over his head. He is sentenced to death. He is about to jump in the pit when he is saved by Gen. LaSalle. I He wakes up in a pitch-black room. He sees the room change and there are now walls with pictures of demons on them. Rats enter the cell. The room starts changing shape into that of a lozenge. He trips and almost falls in a pit. He stands and tries to figure out the dimensions of the room. He remembers being carried down lower and lower.
