He clearly answers that his marriage hasn't been that awful when asked Smith asked him if it was. He says “I wouldn’t say that.”

The fact that it has already been ten years since Braling got married to his wife, things have changed between them. He started to see life differently and knew exactly what he must do in order to keep his wife happy.
