This is exactly what I wrote in response to a similar prompt last year, I hope it helps!:

Malcolm X, in his 1964 speech “The Ballot or the Bullet”, argues to his audience of preachers and supporters that black nationalism is the best way to attack racism and prejudice in America. He also contends that, in the fight for civil rights, activists and civilians alike must put aside their religious views in order to work together to achieve their common goals. X explains that although he is a Muslim, he comes to his audience in the same neutral way the Christian Martin Luther King, Jr., comes to his. In the eyes of Malcolm X, uplifting black people in America must be done with politics and religion set aside. If his audience could see the importance of unity, they could successfully employ black nationalism in their communities and combat racism and white supremacy in a powerful and effective way.
