"Scientists at the Royal Botanic Gardens warn that more than 60 percent of coffee species are in danger of extinction. Coffe is
thrcatened because it has strict temperature and rainfall needs, and its habitat is shrinking due to shifing weather patterns and
deforestation. Plant scientists say citizens, corporations, and lawmakers must act now to establish new forest preserves and protect
fragile species and their environments.
"Climate change skeptics and industry spokesmen say these wories are overblown fear-mongering because most of the plants in
trouble are wild species, not the farmed varieties used by coffee makers. The scientists respond that the wild species will be needed if
the crops used now can't cope with warmer and drier cồnditions and the spread of discases and pests that are predicted.
