mr. bueller avoids humiliating victor. the teacher smiles and checks his desk when he notices teressa asking victor for in learning french. he is portrayed as a sweet and motivating teacher by this particular gesture in the story.

this act of kindness victor to think positively and mature his acts in the class. at the end of the day, he is not confused between choosing spanish or french as he claimed earlier in the story. thereafter, he also visits the library and picks up three books that will him reach the goal of learning a new language which he thought was tough to accomplish, at the start.
