What is the ethos in this thesis statement? The most important legacy from the Civil War was the end of slavery through three amendments to the United States Constitution. Unfortunately, racism delayed and prolonged the struggles of Black Americans for far too long. Although the end of slavery was a good legacy from the war, the struggle for Civil Rights has been a legacy by-product from the war that has been passed on through generations. This legacy has most effected American society today by continued protesting and unrest. One area where this was especially seen this year was through the Black Lives Matter movement. Hopefully the legacy of Civil Rights will be one that can be resolved soon so that we can move on and come together as a stronger nation of equals.
