A defendant during a trial: a) must prove his/her innocence to the jury beyond a reasonable doubt

b) may remain silent during the entire trial

c) must take the stand and present an affirmative defense

d) must accept a fair and honest plea bargain offer made by the People

e) must plead guilty if pre-trial discovery shows that the evidence against him/her
is sufficient to prove the charges against him/her beyond a reasonable doubt.
