Essay help... So far this year, we have read about Anglo-Saxon heroes and Arthurian heroes. In this essay, you will analyze one of these hero types and a modern-day example of the hero type. So what does this mean? You will choose to focus your essay on either Anglo-Saxon traits of a hero or the traits of an Arthurian hero. Once you have analyzed the traits of your chosen hero type, you will then identify and analyze a modern-day example of that hero type. Your hero can be a real person or a character from a movie, tv-show, etc. Your essay will consist of two paragraphs. Please see below for the format.

Paragraph 1: Begin with an opening claim that identifies your literary hero type and its dominant traits. Then, analyze those traits as they were displayed by a character in the literature that we have covered thus far (Gilgamesh, Beowulf, or one of the Arthurian stories). We realize that specific citations will be difficult given our current circumstances. Therefore, what we will require for evidence will be paraphrased evidence followed by the title of the work in parenthesis (see example below). Your paragraph should contain two pieces of evidence and should be 7-10 sentences in length.
Example- Beowulf displays the warrior traits of an Anglo-Saxon hero when he rips off Grendel’s arm and hangs it from the rafters (Beowulf).

Paragraph 2: Begin with an opening claim that identifies your modern-day hero and the dominant traits that he/she shares with your chosen hero type. Then, analyze how those traits are displayed by the character. Again, current circumstances will make specific citations very difficult. Therefore, simply place the title in parenthesis. If your hero is a real person, put “Real Person” in your citation. Your paragraph should contain two pieces of evidence and should be 7-10 sentences in length
Example- Optimus Prime displays the warrior traits of a hero when he defeats Megatron (Transformers).

For both paragraphs, remember that your writing should be formal in style…
no contractions
no 1st person pronouns
no slang
use literary present tense for your verbs
Use our CEC method (claim, evidence, commentary)
