When writing a persuasive text, the main aim is to convince readers who might have differing opinions to see matters from the author's point of view and then agree with him.  

As the name implies, the readers are convinced to change their own opinions on the matter to that of the speaker or author in this context. To achieve this purpose, the author considers conflicting viewpoints and presents reasons to counter them
