How do the text and image interact in order to communicate information? What information does each medium provide for the reader?
Passage
My Response
There has been a lot of discussion lately on the practice of
keeping killer whales in captivity, especially following the
release of the documentary Blackfish. Though parks like
Sea World help educate people and rescue, rehabilitate,
and return animals to their natural habitats, they also keep
orcas in tanks and use them for entertainment. It's difficult
not to see the cruelty in this type of treatment. The orcas
don't have much room to swim, and their diet is not the
same as it would be in the wild. Some orcas in captivity
become aggressive, and most males develop what is
called dorsal fin collapse, where their top dorsal fin goes
limp. This is said to be caused by stress and inactivity.
