Buck had been brought up in California, on the farm of Judge Mill operator. There he had the run of the spot and was cherished and spoiled by all. Tragically, one of the adjudicator's laborers had a betting issue and took Buck to sell him for fifty dollars. Buck battles being tied, confined, and beaten, however his endeavors just baffle him
