Like many other pieces of writing and videos, The Medicine Bag written by Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve and National Geographic's video The Apache Girl Rite of Passage have some similarities.

Both of them show us a rite of passage - a ceremony that marks a major milestone or change in a person's life. The main characters are going through an important time in their life. Martin from The Medicine Bag is ready to receive the medicine bag, an important part of his Sioux heritage. Dachina from The Apache Girl Rite of Passage is going through a ceremony of becoming a woman.

These events are a part of these people's traditions. The person who receives the medicine bag is supposed to give it to the next son in line, and every girl in Dachina’s Apache tribe has to go through this rite of passage to become a woman.

Besides, both the Sioux and the Apache are groups of Native American tribes, making the Native American traditions another similarity between these stories.
