What is the best book genre in your opinion, does your favriote genre matter???

I’m an incessant reader: I more or less always have a book at hand—sometimes more than one. My favorite genre is mysteries, particularly British and Scandinavian novels: I love a twisty plot and tend to pit my wits against the fictional sleuth to see whether I can figure out the solution before s/he does. I particularly admire Henning Mankell: I’ve learned more about history and politics from his mysteries than I ever was taught in school.

I read a lot of other fiction (novels and short stories) and a fair amount of non-fiction as well—history, biographies, and humor (from Wodehouse to Dave Barry); classic horror and true crime, although in the latter genre I prefer the who-dunnit-and-how-they-were-(or weren’t)-caught to those that focus on gore.

I worked for a number of years as an insurance-fraud investigator: I found that my time spent reading about real and fictional crimes was very useful and sometimes more reliable than the methods of colleagues who had been police officers, as they tended to assume that the claimant was guilty, whereas I considered and weighed all the possibilities. Thanks, Sherlock Holmes and Rikki-tikki-tavi (for those who didn’t read Kipling, the latter was his mongoose character whose motto was “Go and find out”)!

i would say c, admiration because the narrator related to the main character and she, too, once felt ashamed about her culture and wished to be an american girl to impress a boy. she felt admiration because her mom prepared her favorite foods when her and robert's (the guy she liked) family all came together and had a family reunion.
