Parenting is not about exercising ones hormonal or gender-based persona onto a child. Parenting should be about giving life, sustenance, protection, care, nurturing, love, experience, teaching, guidance, and boundaries to ones children.

If there is anything to be said about which parent should discipline, I’ve found, from experience, and from reading, that it is preferable for the father to be more calm. Testosterone driven parenting is frightening to the child. Within reason, a mother can be quite vociferous and emotional with their child/ren and they will be able to absorb and not be hurt by it. When a father become’s heated it sends out a much scarier signal to his kids, and will hurt them more emotionally. It’s the same in the rest of society. Men have the reputation for crime and violence. Whether this has something to do with testosterone, I can’t say for definite, but logically, it makes sense.
