The name of the picture, "schoolitis," implies that there is nothing wrong with the child. He is pretending to be sick because he does not want to attend school. This is confirmed by the fact that the doctor is carrying books and winking, in order to confirm to the reader that he is aware of the lie. The events that we can assume will take place are:

Past: The child does not want to go to school and pretends to be sick.

Present: The doctor realizes there is nothing wrong with the kid.

Future: The child will be forced to go to school once his lie is discovered.
