public documents. Use a variety of sources in your research. Your persuasive essay should be at least 300 words long, not
including the list of sources.
1. Identify a problem or decision you think needs to be addressed in your school or community. Perhaps you see a
need for writing a technical direction for the operation of a machine or step-by-step instructions on accessing the
library computer catalog. You may want to address truancy at your school.
2. Describe the problem clearly.
3. Research to find solutions, gathering facts and evidence that support your solution.
4. Organize your solution step by step.
5. Include objections you find in your research and explain why you feel your solution is better.
6. Offer persuasive evidence to validate the problem and your proposed solution,
