Sample 2 "Stand up for what is right, regardless of who is committing the wrong.” (Suzy Kassem). What
comes to mind when you read that quote? Do you think you should stand up for what you think is right,
no matter who is "committing the wrong"? There are people in this world who stand up and speak out
for what's right and actually change something. Martin Luther King Jr is one of them, his speech was so
effective that he was able to help end segregation. On August 28, 1963 King gave a speech that would
change history forever. He addressed people to show the problems with segregation and brought light
to it. While on the other hand, some people don't have very effective speeches and sound like they're
just talking without taking action. Trump's inaugural speech is an example of this. His speech was not
very effective, he does use strong word choices, but he doesn't use much rhetoric which can make his
speech lose effectiveness. The speech "I have dream” is the most effective speech out of all the
speeches that we have read this quarter based on King's use of figurative language, tone/word choice,
and rhetoric.

Marianne moore’s “poetry” is written in defense of poetry. in the excerpts, which three lines or phrases reflect moore’s opinion of what good poetry should be? . . to discriminate against "business documents and school-books"; all these phenomena are important. one must make a distinction however: when dragged into prominence by half poets, the result is not poetry, nor till the poets among us can be "literalists of the imagination" —above insolence and triviality and can present for inspection, "imaginary gardens with real toads in them," shall we have it. in the meantime, if you demand on the one hand, the raw material of poetry in all its rawness and that which is on the other hand genuine, you are interested in poetry.
