The following passages (taken from the introduction section of a position paper) contain the same content, but were written for two different audiences. Read them both carefully and answer the following questions: 1.Who are the intended audiences for each passage?
2.Are there any key differences/similarities in content and/or organization?

Passage A:
Large carnivores are particularly vulnerable to extinction (Cardillo et al., 2004) and are currently experiencing dramatic population declines worldwide (Crooks et al., 2011). This rapid loss of carnivores at the global scale is alarming as there is strongevidence to support that top predators play a role not only important in controlling the populations of species found lower in their food chain, but also instrumental in maintaining a diverse variety of species within their ecosystem (Connell, 1972). The conservation of mammalian carnivores in particular provides a unique opportunity to protect both the individual species at risk and the functioning of natural ecosystems (Caro, 2010), as predation plays a key role in shaping animal populations and communities. Carnivores can exert this influence on their environment directly through the prey that they kill, and indirectly through non-lethal influences that can alter predator and prey behaviour (i. e., vigilance), habitat use, or feeding and/or courtship behaviour (reviewed by Lima & Dill, 1990). Therefore, predators are a fundamental ecosystem component that can shape communities by affecting life history traits such as fecundity, mortality, and movement patterns (Miller, 1999; Terborgh et al., 2001). Ultimately, these complex interactions between predator and prey can influence ecosystems function and species diversity (Creel & Christianson, 2008).

Passage B: Large carnivores are particularly vulnerable to extinction (Cardillo et al., 2004) and are currently experiencing dramatic population declines worldwide (Crooks et al., 2011). This rapid loss of carnivores at the global scale is alarming as there is strong evidence to support that alpha predators play an important role in controlling populations of lower trophic species and maintaining ecosystem biodiversity (Connell, 1972). The conservation of mammalian carnivores in particular provides a unique opportunity to protect both a single species and the functioning of natural ecosystems (Caro, 2010), as predation plays a key role in shaping animal populations and communities. Carnivores exert this influence through the prey that they kill, and through the behavioural and life history decisions of both predator and prey (Fryxell & Lundberg, 1994). Direct influence, exerted through top down regulation, is an essential process necessary for the maintenance of ecosystem functions and species diversity (Creel & Christianson, 2008); while nonlethal effects of predation are important for the preservation of evolutionary forces shaping prey communities (Miller, 1999; Terborgh et al., 2001)
