In February 1717. it was bound for Jamaica with a rich load of silver coins, indigo. sugar, ivory, and gold when it was boarded by Pirate Sam Bellamy. Bellary took the magnif- cent vessel for the flagship of his pirate fleet but he only had it for two months.

4. In April of 1717, the Whydah and several other pirate vessels were on their way to New England. While the fleet was off Cape Cod, a storm blew up with gusts up to 70 miles per hour.
