Utter Embarassment (1) “Come on!” I shoved my phone quickly down in my pocket and started to trudge inside Forever 21. (2) It was my fifth time trying to call my friend. (3) Every time I called, I kept hearing her repeated voicemail message. (4) She almost always answers her phone, and I didn’t no why she wouldn’t then. (5) While my mom was in the shop next door, I slowly and carefully searched for my future shirt. (6) The somewhat interesting scent of new clothes, the rumbling noise from the shoppers in the walkways, and the cold diverse fabric brushing against me filled my senses. (7) A familiar look caught my eye. (8) The straight black hair, the tall body, the unusual brown purse, in a blink of an eye I knew it was my friend. (9) Slowly I crept behind her back, planning on how to make her jump. (10) Her hands were raised while studying a necklace. (11) Without thinking, I ran to her, grabbed her shoulders, and shook her. (12) Immediately I felt like something was wrong. (13) Slowly she looked over her shoulder and said, “Do I know you.” (14) Instead of my 17-year-old friend, it was a 20-year-old lady with a huge mole on her nose. (15) In a split second, I backed away and apologized. (16) I felt like the whole world saw me make a fool of myself. (17) She turned around fully and stared at me. (18) I just stood there. (19) It was my first real public embarrassment but not my last. (20) My cheeks turned pink, and I felt stupid. (21) Calmly I walked away to another section. (22) When she was gone, I ran to my mom next door. (23) This experience taught me to think before I act and dont jump to conclusions. (24) I now apply that to everything I do.
