The Iroquois Creation Myth: "The World on Turtle's Back" Writing a Creation Myth Active
Prompt
In this assignment you will be the creator and you will be creating your own myth. Creation myths explain how life came to
exist and how the world was formed. You have read an Iroquois creation myth and are now knowledgeable about how the
myth reflects Native American culture. It's your turn to describe how the world came into existence. You may create our
world in any way you like, but try to remember some of the traditional elements of the Native American creative myth and
incorporate those into your story.
