In general, the best animated movies are shorter than the best films. The reason for that is the fact that animations usually have children as their target audience. Children often grow restless if they have to sit still for a long time.

Length of movies:Some of the best movies in the world are quite long. Just think about the acclaimed "Gone with the Wind," a film that lasts practically 4 hours. That is a long time to sit still and focus, even for adults.Now, imagine for a child, who is naturally restless and energized, how difficult it would be to sit still for four hours. It is basically impossible. That is why animated movies are usually shorter.Animated movies mostly target children as their audience, so it makes sense that they would be shorter in order to fit children's focus abilities.

Explanation:

Animated films, although they have a well constructed and often deep and meaningful plot, are mostly films aimed at children. This justifies the shorter duration that these films have in relation to the best films. Since children can be bored and tired with very long narratives.

However, the best films have a longer duration, because they have more complex stories that need more time to be solved.
