Question 5
Read the paragraph. Based on the details, why is an animal's habitat
so important?
Some habitats have water and
other habitats don't.
It's true that kangaroo rats and common tree shrews
look alike. But what do you think would happen if they
switched habitats? In the rainforest, kangaroo rats
would not find the seeds they depend on. They might
not drink the water that's available and die of thirst.
Meanwhile, common tree shrews would be in danger
in the desert. They might not get enough water. Each
habitat provides everything the animals that live there
naturally need. But outsiders may be out of luck.
Some habitats, like a desert, can
be a dangerous place to live.
A habitat provides everything an
animal needs to survive.
A habitat can help outsiders
survive in a tough place.
