Absurdism is the philosophical belief that life has no inherent meaning and, therefore, social rules or moral codes that appear to follow a supposed meaning are questionable. And even if there were an inherent meaning in life, it is not humanly possible to discover that meaning. Albert Camus, a self-proclaimed absurdist, did not believe in existential thought (which proposes that there is no inherent meaning in life, but that one must build meaning through his/her own actions and decisions). How does Camus both present his absurdist philosophy and reject the existentialist view in The Guest?
