Read the excerpt below and answer the question. Remembering with difficulty why I had come, I went over to one of the stalls and examined porcelain vases and flowered tea-sets. At the door of the stall a young lady was talking and laughing with two young gentlemen. I remarked their English accents and listened vaguely to their conversation.("Araby" from Dubliners, p. 4) Why is the narrator disappointed? He had hoped to hear foreign languages being spoken. The salesman seems to have no interest in helping him. He had hoped for something more exciting and exotic. He didn't believe a flowered tea-set would be suitable.
