When there is a contrast between appearance and reality irony results. Why is it ironic that the crowds are celebrating in Whitman’s poem

It is ironic because Lincoln just died, but they are celebrating the ending of the civil war.

It is ironic because Lincoln recently died, but now here  they are celebrating the ending of the civil war. A happy celebration for a  sad circumstance.

i cannot see any of the options

her eyes water as she let her go

her mothers hand goes limp

face white and pale

lips blue and stale

she is gone

sadness fills her body

she collapses to her knees

as her mothers disease leaves the girl alone
