no, governments should not have access to encrypted data because it would violate people's privacy and rights. giving governments access to encrypted data would include things like the text messages and emails sent from person to person. if the government had access to this data, imagine all the things they'd be able to see in them (for example, private conversations that no one wants to be made public)

if governments had access to encrypted data, lives would become less private, and it's scary thinking how more of our data is just being used/read by/monitored by the governments!
