Georgette Likes to Watch Mystery Movies Georgette is a mystery-solving sensation. When she is given the choice of which movie to rent for family night, everyone knows it is going to be a mystery. It's funny how Georgette follows the details. She is incredibly observant. I sometimes think it hurts her not to be able to look into every cabinet, drawer, and closet in each movie scene. There are six of us, including Georgette, in the family. The remaining five of us often bet on how long it will take her to solve the mystery in the movie we are watching. It takes a very twisted plot—almost nonsensical—to outwit her by the end of the story. More often, Georgette has revealed her suspicion, which helps us all to put together the pieces while we watch her hunch play out on screen. We often joke with her because she thinks way too hard to be enjoying herself. That's when Georgette replies, "It's fun to figure things out." What type of a movie goer are you? Do you prefer to select something that is simple-minded, where there isn't a conspiracy theory or a need to look for minute details? Or, are you more like Georgette, eagerly anticipating the challenge to solve a mystery? OBJECTIVES Understand the meaning of critical thinking. Practice thinking skills at the "evaluate" level of Bloom's Taxonomy. Project Critiquing falls within the evaluation process of thinking. In this assignment you will practice high-order thinking skills at the evaluating level by writing a movie critique. Once you have selected a movie, write a 500-word report evaluating the entertainment value you experienced for each of the movie components below. Again, this is not a professional movie critique. The goal is to evaluate and express your personal entertainment level in the following areas: Story Plot Main Characters Plausibility Special Effects
